Hello, I am the creator and owner for RentVine.com. Currently I write all the blog posts.
I love what I do! I really mean it, I can’t get enough of it. I love getting up in the morning to fire up my computer.
I am fascinated by how the search engines work. A lot of my work at RentVine is focused on achieving high rankings within the search engines to provide our customers maximum exposure. I read many search engine forums and blogs each day, as well as attend SEO conferences each year.
To be honest I know a ton more about search engines than I do about the rental market, but I am learning a lot about the rental market everyday by speaking with property managers and owners on my podcast show.
Dave’s History:
Back in 1983 my Dad asked me to buy a computer for the family. I did a ton of research and we ended up with a Mac Plus. I remember spending way too much time on that computer and I believe that Mac somehow shaped my current geeky personality.
I fell in love with the idea of the internet as soon as I heard about it. I am a internet speed junky, even my current 8Meg internet connection is not fast enough. I have tried just about every type of internet connection out there. Scotty I need more power!
When reading my blog entries please keep in mind that I come from an engineering background and that writing has never been my strongest skill.
I used to be an Acoustical Consultant
My background is actually not in web design at all, or even in real estate. My degree from University of Miami is in Audio Engineering. I was an acoustical consultant for Acoustical Design Group and K2Audio, I designed sound systems for just about everything from football stadiums to US Senate hearing rooms in DC.
I started building web sites back in 1998. Back then and still today I am amazed by how fast you can create things on the internet. I started out using FrontPage back then because it was “free”. I now love to use Dreamweaver.
Several years ago I got on a Macromedia Flash kick and created a company called FlashAppointments.com which I am no longer involved with.
I am totally self taught from reading books and getting a ton of help from the online forum community. So many people to thank for helping me and I don’t even know their real names!
I used to design web sites for friends and then noticed they were doing quite well because of my work, so I stopped taking on other people’s projects and started some of my own.
Dave’s Current Focus:
I enjoy going to SEO conferences
Today I am focused on the power of the search engine. Getting higher rankings on Google means more exposure for property managers to rent their homes.
My top competitors have many employees with vast resources and RentVine is just run by me. I am the small guy on the block, or I guess you could say I am the David up against the Goliath (Rentals.com, RentalHouses, etc.).
Many of my competitors read and comment on this blog. I poke fun at my competitors and spin the blog post in my favor, but I have a lot of respect for my competitors and I really enjoy when they join in on the conversation on my blog.

Spending time with the girls
I have an amazing wife and two beautiful girls. I thank the internet almost daily because I can spend more time with my family than I did before. You could say I am one happy guy!
If you are wondering about all the grapevine photos on this blog, they are from our backyard grapevine. We don’t make any wine from them, usually the birds and squirrels get them before we do. Our backyard grapevine pretty much inspired the name for this site.
