Today I noticed a lot of people coming to my site using the phase apartment ratings. Even one phrase “apartment ratings site down”. For some reason I rank well for this since I have done posts before about this site.

Sure enough when I looked the site is down. Actually it is not totally down, it is showing it’s source code instead of displaying properly.

Odd that this would happen.

I just finished watching a very interesting presentation (24 minutes long) given by Bob Brisco from Internet Brands (the company that bought Jeremy’s ApartmentRatings.com and ThatRentalSite.com) – very interesting!

I didn’t know that Bob co-fonded Classified Ventures. I bet he won’t agree what they are doing with RentalHomesPlus right now.

I am not a finance guy but I think the presentation was to get people excited about their IPO which I think is happening tomorrow.

Everything that Bob talked about totally makes sense me. Such as doing things organically (not what RHP is doing).

Perhaps I should buy some of their stock!

I hope they don’t mind me taking the screen shot above.

Update 11/14/09: I got to meet Bob Brisco at PubCon 2009 and got to ask him some questions about apartmentratings.com. I shot a video of him answering a question on how to value the price of a web site but he asked me not to share it on my site (which I am sure Brett Tabke wouldn’t allow me to post anyway).

I would like him to buy my site for millions (ha, ha) but I don’t think it is unique enough for him.

Looks like Dan over at the RentMarketer blog has been picking up my slack lately since I have not been blogging much the past couple of weeks due to moving my home / office and having internet issues along the way.

Jeremy’s ApartmentRatings.com site is being acquired by a company called Internet Brands (I have not heard of them before).

I have always looked up to Jeremy and what he has done with the that site. Pretty cool when Google makes a case study out of your site!

Jeremy must have some pretty thick skin because you gotta think when an apartment gets a poor rating I am sure Jeremy hears about it from the apartment owner!

My internet issues are not totally resolved – I like to fix things myself and I need to replace some more cable splitters to get the speed that I am accustom to. Just about everything is unboxed but we still have a ways to go for things to be back to normal.

Get this – my office is no longer in the basement! I have my own office on the main level of our new home. Time will tell how this will work with my two girls coming in to see Daddy during the day – but so far it has not been too bad.
