There is a scam you should be aware of when interested parties contact you about your rental property(s).
This scam is not new; it has been around for several years. It is easy to protect yourself.
What the scam artists tries to do is get you to accept a bogus cashiers check or money order for more than what is owed on a rental sight unseen and then request a full refund back to them. You refund them the money then you find out later that the cashiers check or money order is worthless and they are long gone.
Simply don’t refund any money until the cashiers check or money order has cleared especially for persons who have not even seen the property. Check over their application carefully and check all references. Scam artists will not come with any good references.
