As we discussed in previous blog posts we have been working on a free mapping tool intended for property managers and real estate professionals.
We are happy to announce the launch of mapVine! An easy way to showcase your properties on your site with a good looking map.

mapVine allows a web site owner to quickly create a map using Googleâ„¢ Maps technology for their web site with little or no programming knowledge.
How does it work? This three minute demonstration video shows how to map three properties quickly. (a) Select the metro area where your properties are located, (b) input your properties within the system, and then (c) simply copy the code provided into your web site where you want the map to appear.
You can optionally customize your map by (a) choosing the type of map you wish to display as your default (street, hybrid or satellite), and (b) choosing the map size (small or large). You can also set the default map center and zoom for any location within the United States.
While mapVine was originally designed for property managers and real estate agents it can also be used for other industries that require property mapping for their sites, such as a chain of local coffee shops.
Check out an example of a property management site using the mapVine interface: A Vantage Properties (Denver)

Please let us know if you have any comments or suggestions on how we can improve mapVine. One suggestion we have received is providing a choice between Google Maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth (Birds Eye View), we are considering this in our next release of mapVine.
You can see the mapVine press release here.

Dave,
Thank you for putting this together so we can have a map on our individual sites. I know that this will make it so much easier for people to understand where my homes are located compared to where their job is located.
I agree - I see many other uses for the maps as well - Property Managers, Buyer’s Agents, Listing Agents, Coffee Shops, and so much more.
Thank you - Wendy
Dave,
Very cool and intuitive. I love this mapping feature and I am confident Property Managers and agents will use it too. Best of all, its free! Keep on innovating…
Hey Dave,
Having some fun discovering all the cool features to this tool! Thanks for putting it together! The video was a great tutorial!

Thanks everyone for the comments.
We got some nice press today on the Dailysearchcast with Danny Sullivan here: http://dailysearchcast.com/061010-143933.html if you want to listen to the show. Danny could not remember my last name but that is ok.

Great idea!
Looks like a great tool.
Cool. I am going to try it.
Very nice! I’m having a little trouble getting it to work on my Point 2 Agent website, but it appears to be a P2, not MapVine, problem.
One thing that would be a *great* addition (for me) is if you could input geo-coordinates if you don’t have a property address. What property doesn’t have an address you ask? Many land parcels… I have coordinates for them, but the addresses are like XXX5 N. Galvin and Google maps can’t resolve addresses like that. If I had an option to enter coordinates in lieu of an address, it would be magical!
Great work… (and thanks to Maureen for the tip!)
Fabulous new tool! I work for a Real Estate Agent that sells primarily new homes in large developments. He currently has 5 developments going. I am trying to adapt it to work with that. IE: photo is the development logo, address is a nearby corner (new development addresses don’t map right), leaving BR’s & BR’s blank and text says “3&4BR Homes”
It would be wonderful if the “Title/Text” area was capable of holding more text characters.
Any other ideas how it can be used for new developments?
All in all, it’s fabulous. When I get it working right, I’ll add it to his web site and post a link for you, it’s not there yet.
Thanks SO much!
…should have read Bedrooms & Bathrooms blank…
Cyndy,
I have received many requests for increasing the Title field so more text can used.
I am looking into ways to make that possible.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Dave
