I have always looked up to my Dad, he is one of the brightest people I know. When I was growing up he never had a hard time explaining a complicated math homework problem to me. On his bio page on his blog he talks about not being a scientist or mathematician, I think I would have to disagree with that. :) I love how my Dad loves to keep learning about new things - right now he is on a cosmology kick. Suzy is working for someone, but her vet tech career allows her to pick and choose her working hours while raising 3 kids. When I was setting up a lamp factory in a research department I referred to myself as an "Intrapreneur" That's as close as I got to working for myself. Keep having fun at what your doing Dave.
