In the recent layoffs over at CSI you would think they were in a hiring freeze.
Oh, that is not the case.
They are hiring for the Louisville office right now. I guess that kills my idea that they are closing that office down.
I wonder what the base salary is without the commission?
Also in their Monster.com job posting indicates they are “a leader in vacation rentals“. I think HomeAway would take issue with this.
Sounds like Rentals.com likes to spin their job posting copy as much as I do with my copy on this blog!

Dave,
Their ads vary….not to long ago they quoted 60-80k Base and Commission. Why the same job has a different description in Louisville than it does in Atlanta…I have no idea! (see below)notice a Rentclicks email address….whats up with that?
Dave,
I think it is 20k base and 20k commission in Atlanta. They can correct me if I am wrong. After Uncle Sam is done with a 20k base you would be better off waiting tables!

Hiring in Louisville….man they are dumber than I thought! They have always had a hard time hiring quality people there….same in Atlanta….Colorado Springs seems to have a better candidate pool.
Why they are keeping an office in Louisville must be hotly debated by the handlers at KKR!

They are ushering out the old and ringing in the new. Clymer knows that he needs to gain back control of the sales organization. There’s no chance if we are stuck with the current bunch of spoiled rotten brats that we have now. They do nothing more than complain, don’t show up for work, waste time on things like posting information that they’ve stole from other articles on their own blogs and pretending they are an industry expert. I’m angry to say the least at that. They owe it to me and my faultering company to spend at least the same amount of time helping out their their own market while. You are only as good as your manager. All I hear are excuses when it comes to why their team has never been able to meet goals. It’s either too much competition from the MLS, poor market conditions, etc. There is always a reason. Things were vastly different when Warren, Cummings, Curlee, and Carroll were running the one’s in charge. Some of us were happy when they started leaving. We knew things wouldn’t be so difficult, we wouldn’t be as scrutinized as sales reps, and we had a certain expectation to live up to. But now I know they held us all to a higher standard. It was for our own good and good for the company. In the end that was best for us even though it wasn’t easy and I wasn’t happy…or so I thought. I am grateful for their contribution and I’m sorry they are gone. They kept us all employed, competitive, and on top of the game. And they all reminded us we had no competition. And we didn’t. We never worried about rentalhouses. Now I realize we don’t stand a chance with those who are leading us now. It’s sad becuae I’ve seen it all fall apart right before my eyes. It’s really easy working for who we do now, but we are failing as a company. I hate to see this happen. Rentclicks was truly a great company to work for. We were truly a family unit…all of us. We were not perfect, but we were better than anyone else. We all worked together. And I’m ceratin things would be different if RentClicks stayed RentClicks. Sure I’ve made some friends at Rentalhouses, but like it or not, it was a mistake for Consumer Source to buy them and do away with RentClicks. Many of those who left warned me of what is now transpiring at Rentals. Every thing they told me has really come true. What a shame this all is. I am sure many people are happy to see the downfall of this company. But when you stop to think about it…it’s very sad as well. RentClicks really grew this indusrty and made it what it is today. I would be willing to bet if it wren’t for RentClicks…this blog wouldn’t be. Think of all the people Rentclicks has employed. All of they food they have put on everyone’s table. All the happiness they have given so many. All the homes they have helped rent for homeowners and property managers. If it weren’t for RentClicks, Rentalhouses would have never survived as long as they did. Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but they were a village full of idiots. It started with the decision to put Steve Huey in charge, keep Spalding in place, Massey(s)on the payroll, and the Louisville office open and intact. It has only gotten worse. Turnbull couldn’t keep the best talent he had from leaving and make the necessary changes when it came to getting rid of the lackadasical team he had/has in place. Jamie Clymer is no Dave Borden, Johanthan Hartley or Jason Warren. He cannot bring the company which I grew to love love back from the verge of extinction. He has no clue what he is doing. It’s just sad and I’ve grown to hate the fools of Consumer Source for being such complete idiots for allowing it all to happen. They are all responsible, from the CEO to the HR department, to our horrible management team.
Why such hostility in your posts, and why so many? This leaves many to question why an individual would continue to track every move a company makes, could it be jealousy or possibly some terrible attempt at revenge. You are not in any position to attack past or current employees and nearly all of your so called facts are completely false and contain no evidence. You make disgusting and degrading remarks about the current CSI employees, and you are so grossly uniformed.
Please remember that these are human beings with families and many of them are simply trying to earn an honest living. Claiming people to be hicks, hillbillies, idiots and talent lacking individuals is completely unprofessional, especially when you don’t know any of them on a personal level or even seen them perform.
Most the current employees are college educated and/or have extensive sales and marketing backgrounds. These individuals also truly believe in the product and helping their clients by providing a valuable product. Please make an attempt to stop using derogatory remarks toward CSI, you are not a part of the company so please just let it go.
I also find it in very poor taste that this blog would allow and has continued to allow individuals to post such hurtful remarks about employees. CSI is focused on providing a service for their customers; name calling and personal attacks are not only unprofessional but also show a person’s true character.
The greatest lessons learned are from past experiences whether they are good or bad, and while many can argue that CSI has not always made the best decisions, they have learned and are growing from them. I would also like to please ask that Dave not continue to allow these posts. These posts can be seen by many people, including property managers and it doesn’t make CSI look bad. It instead shows a lack of integrity and responsibly on the part of the posters and the site owner.
Please stop with the accusations that the Louisville office will be closed, because that is certainly not in anyway true. Yes there have been some layoffs, but by simply looking at the job titles it is easy to see that the individuals in the business development field were the ones let go, because this is not something that CSI will be focusing on. No one was let go for personal or even job performance reasons, these positions have just be eliminated. The individuals were let go from the Atlanta and Louisville offices b/c they held the eliminated job titles, no one in Colorado held such a position.
The Louisville office is performing extremely well and to many peoples surprise, they have the highest revenue over other offices, and have for many consistent months now. I believe that is the exact opposite of a “no talent telemarketers”. Furthermore, why would Clymer close an office that is cheaper to run and brings in the most revenue? Not likely, but please think what you will, because that is all you have; assumptions, guesses and unfounded ideas.
In conclusion, I simply would ask that you remember that these are people with feelings and a strong dedication to their careers. Also, if you are a current CSI employee, have a little respect for yourself and for the company that has given you a chance. If you are complaining more than working than maybe you need to take a look in the mirror. Rentclicks is gone and will never return, please try to continue on with your current job duties or peacefully bow out, don’t use this blog as a place to air out your dirty laundry.
Please be respectful and speak with dignity, and remember when you Assume one only makes a (you know what) out of you and me! Thank you and lets all try to work and live peacefully together.
Peacefully,
Thanks for writing.
I am confused who you are directing your comments towards, me or the people that have posted comments here?
If it is directed towards me, I apologize. However, I believe I have not said anything hateful about anyone. In fact, in the last post I had to remove a comment that was way out of line.
You are right this blog has become too much of a gossip column for the rentals.com employees. I suppose I could have seen that coming.
You are right these negative comments are becoming a reflection of the quality of this blog, and I will tighten down the comments a lot more in the future.
My hopes were that this blog would provide an open discussion, where I do not need to do much editorial control of the comments. But, over the past few days it has gotten out of hand – and I apologize.
I won’t stop stop writing posts with my “particular spin”. In this post I “guessed” about them closing the Louisville office (not an “accusation”). It is my way to spur discussion. I am very clear in all my posts on when I am making a guess. I do not promote any “insider’s knowledge” or “expertise”.
I am comfortable with the way I have handled myself. I would ask anyone who comments on this blog to feel the same.
Dave,
You have no need to apoligize for your blog. A blog is just that, a place to exercise your freedom of speech. Plus it’s not your fault Rentals.com has the reputation that it does. I believe now it’s just starting to come out and it would, whether it was your blog or another. A bad reputation is not an easy thing to hide.
I was an honest, hardworking employee for Rentals.com and unfortunatly for them they decided to fire me the week before Christmas (what kind of company does that?) But this is just one of many things that they did to myself and others that has sparked these discussions on your blog. It certainly has no bearings on you personally, you just provided a forum for the public. To keep everyone informed in the Rental industry. I think it’s important that the bloggers write their feelings, because hopefully if someone is looking to work for Rentals in the future, they can get the real story and not the sugar-coated version that Rentals would like you to believe.
While I was in training at Rentals, we were instructed by our manager to read your blog on a regular basis to keep informed on the happenings of the Rental industry. Rentals employees read your blog every day. (Most of them)
As for the post that you deleted the other night that had vulger language. I did read the comment before it was deleted and you certainly did the right thing by deleting. That was a direct attack and uncalled for.
Thank you Dave for providing the #1 rental blog in the industry, and being the bigger person in it all. It certainly shows your class and I think we all appreciate that.
Dave,
Thank you very much for your response and attention into this matter. And no the post was not directed at you, I can see that you attempt to stay objective and unbiased when creating and posting comments. And after all it is your blog. I again want to thank you for your courtesy toward this matter.
I do not intend to name any names because that only fuels the fire, and I hope I have conveyed that I am against that. I simply would like poster to remember that the online rental industry was created to help clients and potential tenants alike in there goal to find and rent living spaces. Thank you again for moderation and best wishes to all!
Peacefully
Peacefully Positive is in fact Jamie Clymer. Whether you liked them or not, all past senior executives of Rentals.com businesses had the good sense to not post on this blog as it simply provides more credibility to the comments appearing on it. Asking people to not voice their honest feelings and frustrations is completely counter to the philosophy of blogging and social media. Clymer is fostering a dictatorial culture at Rentals.com and does not like others voicing their opinions within its halls. He appears to be attepting to accomplish the same thing on this blog.
Dave
You never have said anything hateful or malicious. You have always just made your opinion. I admit watching all this over the past couple days have been confusing and amusing. I agree with both Peacefully and Inside it all. Both of you are right in your observations. They are cutting the high salaries and eliminating redundant positions. They had already done that just a little at RH.c before the buyout. The 20/20 salary is right on by the way Kona.
Well you have your FACTS all wrong again, I am not Jaime Clymer and I said nothing about the past executives of Rentals.com. I have nothing to say about them because I didn’t have any contact with them. I also never asked anyone not to voice their opinions. By simply reading my post you can clearly see I merely asked posters not use derogatory name calling.
You don’t have to be the president of a company to know that childish name calling and degrading remarks about past, present and even future employees of CSI is in no way necessary. But on the serious I am not Clymer, and I am pretty sure I never will be. Good luck to all.
Peacefully
Thank you Peacefully. Now we know who you are and enjoy the Derby this year!
Peacefully,
Man…your dead wrong….on everything!
