Dave,
This is the month for Icann to verify domain information. :)

Hmmmm….Dave…I have already and will again advise some people in the Louisville RentalHouses.com shop to be looking for other jobs as ultimately I think they will shut the entire office down.

Dave,

Other higher paid Rentals.com staff will probably be next! Closing Louisville is a good bet!

Their bios are still on the site:

Robert Massey, Jr.
Founder of RentalHouses.com & VP of Industry Development

Kevin F. Spalding
Director of Business Development

Gail Carter
Business Operations Manager

That is a good guess. Jamie Cylmer might make that move to close the Louisville office to save money.

If they did really fire all the top management in Louisville, I could see Jamie making the decision to close that office.

Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 8:58 am

Dave,

Louisville was just a low rent telemarketing operation with low level unskilled sales people. Rentalhouses revenue was pitiful. I never could figure out why Primedia bought it for that much money. I guess that is why the original Jamie is no longer there!

Word is that they are not closing…just cutting the fat. Supposedly no plans to close Louisville…we shall see!

Dave Dugdale said in March 19th, 2008 at 9:49 am

To me it would make sense for Jamie Clymer to close it and save money.

Jamie should move the RentalHouses.com site over on to the Rentals.com server and save more $ there too.

Who Wants to Party?! said in March 19th, 2008 at 10:24 am

Actually, the name is registered under Bob Massey, Rob Massey’s son, who is still employed at RentalHouses.com.

mygif
Who Wants to Party?! said in March 19th, 2008 at 10:28 am

And no, they will not be closing the Louisville office down. Clymer comes from a heavy telemarketing background more suited to the high-volume call game vs. the lower-volume research and relational building strategy RentClicks employed.

bathroomsagainstspalding said in March 19th, 2008 at 10:49 am

I wanna know how did Kevin Spalding survive so long? Anybody out there have a clue? And what was his contribution to Rentals? Director of Business Development – what? Other than CSI, who is he kidding? Just what did he develop? A new use for a bathroom stall?
In less than a year we have seen the total destruction and downfall of the biggest player in the rental classified industry. And lets face it – Jamie Galleo stuck the fork in Rentals.com when she had the grand (or bone headed) idea to consolidate the indusrty and purchase Rentalhouses.com (dueling banjos playing in the back ground)and vaporize RentClicks (cue the ballad of Darth Vader). Does anyone really believe this Clymer guy, (who knows nothing about property management, property managers, or the single family home rental industry) can do what the others before him couldn’t do? I’ll give him credit on one front – at least he is trying to take control and hold people accountable. It doesn’t seem he afraid to make necessary (insert overdue here as well)changes. His sales managers are grossly overpaid (thats’ an under statement). And even more than that they are underachievers (and that’s the under statement of the year). Lack of leadership has plagued Rentals.com since the RentClicks crew abandoned ship. Until he replaces his current management crew, Rentals doesn’t stand a chance. Rentals should waste no time consolidating his sales offices into one location. There’s no need to have 3 sales offices when they don’t even generate enough revenue to pay the rent. The Hillbillies in Louisville and the Hicks in Atlanta need to go. The view in Colorado is much better as well as the job pool.
I’m sure a lot of competitors out there are receiving resumes from the current staff at Rentals. I would keep this in mind however; The creme of the RentClicks crop left months ago when they had the fortitude to see where things are going and didn’t want any part of the mess which has been unfolding since Jan 07. Why settle for hamburger when you can have filet mignon?

To be honest. I don’t think there is ever going to be big huge money in online rentals…It is a labor of love.

Dave Dugdale said in March 19th, 2008 at 11:24 am

If Rob Massey’s son owns it, what is stopping him from quiting his job there and then selling the domain name for millions?

If there is some agreement that he can not sell it, and CSI really owns it – that to me seems misleading to ICANN.

I guess Bob is the only one with job security!

Dave Dugdale said in March 19th, 2008 at 11:49 am

Bill Quirk has confirmed the rumors on his blog.

Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 3:43 pm

Rentalhouses leadership is no longer on their site.

mygif
Illustria said in March 19th, 2008 at 3:45 pm

It didn’t take them long did it!

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in March 19th, 2008 at 3:48 pm

Now if we can get them to update the domain who-is info.

mygif
Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 3:49 pm

Illustria,

How long do you think the outside Reps in Orlando, Tampa and Jax will last………I don’t give them more than 3 months!

Kona

mygif
Illustria said in March 19th, 2008 at 3:56 pm

You know Rentalhouses had a real presence in Jax b4 the buyout…they basically forced out the person who had that territory. Now look at it. The new guy Clymer is not as enthusiastic about AE’s either.

mygif
Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:03 pm

Clymer is hiring inside telemarketers at 1/2 the pay of the AE’s. The AE’s are on their way out!

Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:04 pm

Dave,

Do you think KKR is happy with Quirk being the spokesman for Rentals. I would of pulled the plug on that joke of a blog!

Kona

mygif
Illustria said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:05 pm

Oh yeah…they were paying crazy money after the buyout…I wondered how they were gonna keep doing that.

Illustria said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:06 pm

KKR?

Illustria said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:21 pm

I think the Louisvillians are being optimistic…can’t say I did not warn them.

mygif
Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:23 pm

There is no reason to keep Louisville. They have to improve their bottom line to be sold……….keeping Louisville makes no sense!

mygif
Illustria said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:25 pm

Who knows..Rentals.com is so darn complicated…you don’t even know who it is you work for…I mean CSI? HPC Interactive? Primedia?

mygif
Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:30 pm

Rentals is hiring inside telemarketing Reps in…. Atlanta and Colorado Springs……not Louisville!

mygif
Illustria said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Louisville was supposedly going to but then not.

mygif
Kona Rentals said in March 19th, 2008 at 4:36 pm

Br’s against Splading,

CSI’s HR Department knew about Spalding’s antics…..but did nothing about it!

Oh Really Now? The truth is coming out?

Thats a story not suited to this “G” rated environment. But Spaldy is well known in Burlington, Vermont!

I deleted the last part of your comment because is was way too out there.

I am not going to allow that kind of talk on my blog.

Note: I am closing the thread down for comments in a few minutes – it is getting out of hand. Just because I let people post without their real names doesn’t mean I allow people to say hateful things.
