Wow! I woke up and saw the news this morning. I was shocked to see that Microsoft wants to buy Yahoo (for an insane amount of money). Some in the SEO community predicted this a year ago.
I hope this doesn’t happen.
I like Yahoo and I am not a big Microsoft fan. I just think Microsoft will do something to destroy Yahoo search, and then we are all left to the mercy of Google.
RentVine ranks well in Yahoo and I would like to keep it that way!!
If Google ends up with 90% market share, this would not be a good thing. I think we need diversity in the search industry.
What do you think?

If Yahoo is bought by Microsoft, would they merge it with their search engine or run it as a separate entity? Or maybe they will run it side by side for awhile (like rentclicks, rentals, etc.) and then move it all into one after awhile. I agree that competition is a good thing as it gives people choices.
I have no idea what M$ is thinking.
I am hoping that they won’t let the deal go through.
If Microsoft will buy yahoo than they will keep their both search engines different but same database will be used in both search results……So SEOs dont have to optimized the site for both search engines…. And also i think it will not make any effect on Google because Google has its own unique identity and brand in the search market….
[...] Like I said before I didn’t like the idea of having only two search engines. So I am very glad the Steve Ballmer wrote a letter to Mr. Yang saying that they are walking away from the deal. [...]
