ComScore (web analysts) press release about a week ago reporting that online classifieds are increasing in popularity.
While this report could be filed under the “no-brainer” category it is interesting to see the numbers. It is easy to understand why people are looking less to the newspapers and more to online classifieds because you can display a lot more information on a web page then on print for a much cheaper cost and you can deliver the information so much faster.
“Traffic to the Online Classifieds category has grown 47 percent in the past year to 37.4 million Internet users, reaching about 22 percent of the total Internet population.”
47% is a pretty impressive gain.
One of the top ten online classifieds sites listed was apartments.com (specializes in apartments) which is in a similar market to RentVine. Apartments.com increased 24% from a year ago.
