Wendy,

Good comments.

Blogs are not just one person writing, it is a conversation. If you delete comments or posts you are ending the conversation and you might as well write a static web page.

There might be another reason here, perhaps Rentals.com told her she could not be the official voice for the company and told her to take it down.

I agree Dave that she shouldn't have taken down her blog. If she feels strongly about what she said, then no matter what someone states she not effect her decision. Blogs, advertising, web sites, etc. are all open for discussion and critiquing. If someone points out a "weakness" in what you are saying, you can either say "Yeah, I didn't think of it like that and learn," or just put your head in the sand and run. Taking a blog down because someone disagrees, I feel, is running.

Monique, if you truly believe that you were explaining what a great service Rentals.com has, then do so. If someone disagrees, that is their perogative as I'm sure you've done sales calls and have been told "No" before. If someone points out a different way of thinking, then look at it from their point of view and decide if they have a valid point. You may think of Rentals.com as your child - no one sees their own child the same way that others do. It doesn't make one right and the other wrong but it helps to understand the child as a whole.

She took her post down with the following:

It makes me very sad that I put up a post like that to inform renters of a great site and property managers of ways they can utilize this service to increase their exposure and ultimately save them money and I get comments questioning everything that I have said.

I'm sorry she took the post down off her blog. Since Rentals.com does not have a blog it is interesting to hear what they have to say, even on a personal blog. Perhaps the person replacing Huey should start an official one.

It's interesting that Monique states that they are applying their 31 years of experience to do it right. If you have 31 people, that's just a year experience each which isn't much. If there's more people, that's even less experience per person. When it's a small company, then that is impressive, but not so when you are a big company.

From an SEO stand point creating a hub of blogs from the same IP address is not going to do much for them.

They are only doing it to gain "link" popularity :)
One of them stated "I am doing this partly for work and partly for fun"

Does that spell it out? Good luck to them! Lets talk about R.H.P. shall we?

She has corrected it now on her blog.

She is more than welcome to leave a comment here on this blog if she likes - I allow all comments - even ones that tell me that I do not know what I am talking about, call me names or whatever.
