I guess I must be doing something right because people are starting to copy me!
Looks like a Trevor Riauka from Vancouver liked the name of my site and decided to use it in Canada.
– RentVine.ca –
When I first purchased the domain RentVine.com several years ago I thought about protecting my brand by purchasing all the other variations such as .net, .info, .ca etc..
I noticed that RentClicks did that when they first started, but since I was cheap and never thought anyone would be stupid enough to use RentVine – I just blew it off.
I thought RentClicks was such a good domain name when I was looking for my URL, that is one you want to protect – RentVine – ah come on, who in their right mind would want to copy that?
RentVine is such an odd name, it came from my wife when she looked out to our grapevine in the backyard (pictured above) and said, “How about RentVine for the name of your site – You could say something like you heard in on the Rent Vine, sort of like that song I Heard it on the Grapevine“?”.
I am not sure what to think of this, in one way I am a little concerned about protecting my brand, and in another way I feel flattered.
This guy Trevor Riauka is at least nice of enough to say on his FAQ page:
“Is RentVine.ca affiliated with RentVine.com?
NO! We have no affiliation with this website. A completely different business model is also in place. Remember, .ca stands for Canada!”
I think I need to introduce myself to Trevor, I should shoot him an email to say hello and perhaps invite him on the RadioVine podcast show.

I think Rentvine is gaining such a strong foothold that you don’t have to worry about it. Keep on rockin’ Dave!
