I keep working on my site bit by bit hoping to improve just a little each day. For the first time that I can remember I am actually beating RentalHouses on Google for a city.
Above is from the search “Corvallis Rental Homes” on Google which RentVine is ranking #6 and RentalHouses is ranking #7.
In all fairness RentalHouses kicks my “you-know-what” for all the other cities out there, but I will take this small victory nonetheless! I think I should have a beer to celebrate! 
One thing I have not checked yet is to see if Google is personalizing my results to make my site rank higher just for me. I am pretty sure I have personalization turned off. I need to check that pre-beer.

Sure, it is in Oregon.
Looks like I have moved up from #6 to #4 today.
I think it is a matter of short notice before you are beating all of your competitors. Keep up the great work on the site, Dave!
how does that help you when you have no listings there..are you trying to corner the huge market in corvallis?? Where do you show up in portland searches

Yes you are right I have no listings there, but the point of the post was to show progress in Google and beating my large competitor.
For Portland rental homes I show up around 70. I need to work on that city.
Just imagine if you corner the market in every small city like Corvallis where your competition wont even waste their time to get the 1 or 2 listings you can get up to around 1000 listings by 2014.
Tom, when I read your comment the first time I thought you were telling me I was on the right track and then when I reread it I appears you are poking fun at me with a date of 2014.
1000 x $38 is $38K a month, I would take that! That is 456K a year.

Your comp came in at #4 and you came in at #39 Exact search phrase is importaint.
