So Who Is This Dave Dugdale Guy

As you have probably noticed in my last post I get a lot of my competitors visiting this blog. I guess they are letting me be the voice for this industry.

I am guessing my competitors are asking, “Who is this Dave Dugdale guy?”.

I am sure all my competitors have read the above “About Dave” page. But since I am being so transparent with this blog – heck why not provide my competitors with more info about me.

• RentVine is just a part time gig for me. I only work on RentVine 3 days a week. I also work on it at night after my girls head off to bed.
• Right now I am frustrated with Google since I am back into Supplemental Hell. RentVine ranks well in Yahoo but since I am still not ranking well in Google (need to be in the top 5 for each city) I can’t really sell my services to property managers since they all seem to measure a sites success with Google rankings.
• Since I am the small guy on the block, or I guess you could say I am the David up against the Goliath (RentClicks, RentalHouses, etc) and this is just a part time job for me, I don’t think I have that much to lose being transparent.
• This site was entirely build by me from the ground up – every line of code. I am proud of this since I never did any programming until several years ago. Coldfusion is an easy language to learn.
• I work out of my basement. Sometimes it gets cold down here!
• I play the drums, my electronic drum set is down in the basement as well.

Since I seem to be getting no where in Google land, I am thinking of starting a new web site in another niche and leave this site on auto pilot for awhile.

For those of you that are thinking of creating your own rental site like RentClicks or VacationRentals.com (I laugh that he thinks he can get a site in 30 days!) just remember that starting a site now is far harder than it was 5 years ago. Chasing that 12.5 million dollar dream that the two founders of RentClicks got last year might be tougher than you think. Boy getting half of 12 million must be nice! With all this snow we have been getting in Colorado I think I would be on a beach in the tropics right now!

On a side note, I will say that all the competitors that have contacted me have been very friendly.
