Dave,
Good luck with the move..It is nerve racking! You can call me as many times I called you during my move if you need to. :)

Another big step for my “friendly” competition!

Robbie

And the countdown begins…Tick, Tock,

Dave, Are you going with a windows or linux server?

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in February 28th, 2008 at 9:57 pm

It is a Windows 2003 server because I am using Coldfusion. It is more $ than a Linux box but Coldfusion is so easy to use.

I run windows as well with ASP.

Good luck, I know how nerve racking that could be. It always seems like a simple procedures, but there are always one or two things that were not accounted for, like directory permissions or something crazy. All in all, I’m sure you will breeze through it!

Konrad,

Thanks for stopping by. I just subscribed to your blog’s RSS feed.

No need to do that, I just started my site awhile a few months ago and have not had time to touch my blog with anything useful, LOL!

Dave,
Have you started yet? I looked, and seems your still on same server. What time are you switching over?

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in February 29th, 2008 at 8:54 pm

Not yet, I am going to start at 10pm (in two hours) after the girls go to bed.

I am sure I will be up to 2am doing a ton of testing.

Robbie said in February 29th, 2008 at 9:01 pm

I will be here :) you sound like me when I switched….I was a serious train wreck!

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in February 29th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

Yep, I am pretty nervous. I am just going to brew some tea, and fasten my self in for a long night.

Robbie said in February 29th, 2008 at 9:08 pm

You will be amazed at the speed you will have versus shared hosting.

So much better! I will keep an eye out for the site to see how it goes. Email me :)

I have started the process, you can no longer log in or sign up.

Moving most recent images first and then the database goes next…

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 2:25 am

Having issues importing the database. Need to research issue. I am keeping the site log in offline until the morning in hope a forum post will be answered. Packing it in at 1:30am.

Robbie said in March 1st, 2008 at 8:10 am

Did you resolve Dave?

Seems to be working fine.

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 8:14 am

Nope, I am bummed - will try again tonight. You are looking at the old server. If it says CF7 in the footer that means it is the old one.

Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 11:49 am

I got the database issue resolved thanks to Crystaltech support team and started the DNS transfer about 45 minutes ago 10:45am Mountain Time. So far so good.

If you are reading this comment than you are looking at the new server.

Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 1:19 pm

My Comcast connection is now seeing the new server after 2 hours.

I am now in testing everything.

If you are not see this new server (ded in footer) than reboot your computer to clear your DNS on your local machine.

Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Oops, now Comcast does not see it again…

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 4:08 pm

Now I can see the dedicated box again.

So far so good. I have found a few minor items that have been easy to fix.

Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 5:30 pm

Robbie you crack me up! :)

mygif
Robbie said in March 1st, 2008 at 7:49 pm

You can feel the speed in your mouse! Mine just starting running so fast on the vine I had to grab it off the floor!

I’m kinda getting nervous my mouse may leave me for the competition! :)

mygif
Dave Dugdale said in March 1st, 2008 at 10:57 pm

My speed test show it is about twice as fast as before.
