I laugh when I find these types of quotes:
“I’m looking at a career change coming out of management in the electric sign mfg business. My computer skills are mainly in Microsoft Office suite. I’ve been exploring the idea of building a website similar to rentclicks.com or apartments.com. You can assume I’m patient and like to read. (I’m going to get Build Your Own Website) What program(s) would I have to learn to be able to put a site together like those? I’m open to any other thoughts you may have on the subject.”
I found this on a “how to” web site, where the question was answered in a nice way but loosely translated said “Yep, you are going to need more help than my book can offer.”
If all you know is MS Office, you don’t stand a chance in this competitive industry.

LOL….Fat chance!
Don’t tread on this guy. He may be on to something…
I just don’t hope he thinks starting this kind of online business is like shooting fish in a barrell!
So if a food and beverage manager by trade leaves his industry to build real estate websites and make a living, can it be done?
Took me 5 years. Good luck!
How did you do it Dave? How did YOU bust into the scene? What was your approach? And why would you block Archive.org from accessing the history of your site? I would be VERY curious to see the early versions of your site. Please share so we can all learn!
