With all the changes that have been happening over at CSI (company that owns RentClicks, RentalHouses, HomeRentalAds and Rentals) I wonder who is in charge over there?
I have been in the middle of company transitions like this one when I was an acoustical consultant and I can tell you many of the employees don’t have a clue who is running the boat.
I have a few guesses who is in charge of all these rental sites; Steven Huey or perhaps it is Jamie Gallo. Steve Huey appears to have the most experience with mergers, but Jamie Gallo has been with the company since 1997 and has the most experience.
All I know with all the people leaving and people being hired, I wouldn’t want to be in the middle of what is going on over there. There must be a ton of people running power plays to grab more power while the opportunity is available.

Dave,
Great question! Nobody is listed on the Rentals.com site as being in charge. Jason Warren is still listed on the Rentclicks site but I believe he and Jonathan Hartley along with Dave Borden are long gone.
Robert Turnbull is listed on the Apartment Guide site as:
Vice President, Rentals Group
Robert Turnbull is the Vice President of the Rentals Group for Consumer Source Interactive. He’s been with the company since September of 1999. In that time he has managed various aspects of the ApartmentGuide.com business including sales, marketing, business development, communications, general management, etc.
Huey lists himself as VP:

But Huey also has his own company:

Huey Equity Partners
Founded in 2007 by Mr. Huey soon after successfully leading a turnaround effort and sales engagement as Chief Operating Officer of Rentalhouses.com. Huey Equity’s Partners have been associated with more than thirty transactions totaling more than $4.5 billion, including both public and private entities.
Steven A. Huey
Steve is a dynamic, results oriented leader with a proven track record of sustainable performance in high tech industries. His most recent engagement was that of Chief Operating Officer of RentalHouses.com where he helped in the turnaround and sale of the company.
Co-led the turnaround effort at RentalHouses.com where during his eight month tenure he helped the company triple sales, and listings as well as position the company as the market leader in listings within the top 50 US markets. This led to the company’s sale in January 2007 to Consumer Source, Inc.
Hard to believe KKR would allow someone to have their own equity company while running Rentals.com…..but who knows?????????
What a self serving statement!
he helped the company triple sales, and listings as well as position the company as the market leader in listings within the top 50 US markets.
Triple sales? He sure can’t say he tripled revenues….they gave it away!
Market leader in 50 top US markets……I think Borden and Warren would laugh at that!
Sad ending for Rentclicks…….their employees deserved much better!
I have also heard the rumor that Jason Warren and Jonathan Hartley are no longer with RentClicks even though their names are still listed on the RentClicks web site.
What ever happen to Robert Fowler of HomeRentalAds, is he still working for CSi – his name is no longer on the HomeRentalAds site.
I have been looking at the http://www.hueyequity.com mentioned above some more.
I am a little confused about this site…what is Steve doing opening a new business (Sept 06) – I am rethinking who is in charge – looks to me that Steve has one foot out the door. Perhaps Jamie Gallo is the person running the boat.
But what do I know, I am not a finance guy like Steve is.
Triple sales? I guess it is not hard for any start up to double, triple revenue.
If I have a $1 and double or triple it, that is not a lot of money.
Steve Huey’s equity company web site appears to be down – perhaps…
Jason Warren and Jonathan Hartley have bought Jonathan parents company babybedding.com and are trying to get it going.
Thanks, I am always interested in what they are doing.
