I imagine that people coming to RentVine look around my site and see little or no rental ad listings, and ask, “What is going on with this site?“.
So I thought I would run down my game plan – or business plan which sounds more professional.
My plan is to get the traffic first, then start advertising. Since I am coming to this industry 2 or 3 years late, I can’t just offer 30 days of free advertising to property managers because I only get one chance at this.
If property managers try my site out and get little or no leads, it doesn’t matter if my site is free or not – to them it is just a waste of time. But if I wait until I hit a critical mass in traffic and then offer free trials and the property managers see leads come in, I am more likely to retain them as customers down the road.
So how is my traffic coming? As you can see from this post, I rank #8 against my direct competitors and my traffic is growing.
I used to struggle in Google, but now I am starting to do better. For instance for the phrase, “Denver rental homes” I currently rank #8 today.
For me, I think it all comes down to Google. The property managers that I have spoken with tell me that I need to be in the top 5 on Google for them to use my site.
