Akron Ohio was founded in 1825; it is one of the top 100 most populous cities in the US. The rubber industry excelled its growth over 100 years ago. BF Goodrich and General Tire started the ball rolling and then Goodyear Tire continues to dominate the jobs sector. Goodyear Tire developed the Goodyear Heights area where the built housing for less than $4,000 for the employees. Firestone also built an employee area called Firestone park. Bridgestone puts on the Bridgestone Invitational which is on the PGA tour.
