JOB SUMMARY

The Controller will oversee and manage all financial and accounting operations within the organization. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulations, and managing the financial ERP solutions. This role will involve managing accounting staff, preparing financial statements, and implementing internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to drive financial performance and operational efficiencies. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial strategy of the company and ensure its long-term fiscal health.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for month-end, quarterly and year-end closings
  • General ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
  • Leverage knowledge of NetSuite to build workflows connecting the front-end of the business to the financials. Drive scalability, accountability and accuracy across financial platforms
  • Financial policies: Developing and implementing GAAP-compliant policies and procedures
  • Financial reporting: Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports (balance sheets, income statements, cash flows)
  • Tax compliance: Coordinating with Tax Advisors in preparation of Federal, State and Local taxes, and K1s.
  • Financial risk: Performing financial risk assessments and internal audits
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with GAAP financial and accounting regulations
  • Develop and grow the capabilities of the rest of the finance team
  • Acquisition due diligence, integration, and purchase accounting

Team Leadership & Collaboration: Strong leadership skills to manage accounting staff and collaborate with other departments for financial decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited college or university.
  • Master s Degree (M.A.) in accounting is a plus
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in GAAP accounting in a SaaS environment
  • Progressive understanding of SaaS operating models, revenue recognition, and deferred revenues
  • Experienced with M&A – acquisition due diligence, integration, purchase accounting
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growth oriented, PE-backed portfolio company (nice to have)
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Proficiency with NetSuite, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated people skills and ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all levels
  • Annual Internal Audit experience
  • Comfortable working in a changing and very dynamic environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Work is primarily sedentary in nature due to the office responsibilities. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. On occasion, the employee must be able to lift 20 lbs.
