Make Every Search Smarter with Rentvine’s Global Search
Efficiency starts with fast navigation. In Episode 1 of the Rentvine Academy, we’re diving into one of the most powerful time-saving tools inside the platform: Global Search.
Whether you need to revisit a lease, look up a specific transaction, or even complete tasks like recording a receipt—Global Search is your go-to tool to work smarter, not harder.
What Is Global Search?
The Global Search bar sits at the top of your Rentvine interface and allows you to search nearly every record in the system—from leases and transactions to contacts and tasks. It also gives you access to recently viewed items, intelligent filtering, and even fuzzy matching for misspelled terms.
You can open Global Search in two ways:
Click the search bar at the top of your screen
Use the keyboard shortcut Command + K
Key Features of Rentvine Global Search
Here’s a breakdown of what Global Search can do:
1. Voice Search
You can click the microphone icon to speak your search directly into the system—ideal for multitasking or mobile use.
2. Recently Viewed Items
Rentvine stores a short history of your most recently accessed records. Easily return to past leases, bills, or tasks without having to remember the details.
3. Search Filters (a.k.a. "Shells")
Search results are grouped by type—leases, payments, deposits, bills, etc.—making it easy to narrow your results.
You can also:
Toggle inactive records on/off
Click specific record types for filtered views
Use the right-side icon to refine results further
4. X-Ray Vision
Rentvine calls this internal logic "x-ray vision"—it digs into record relationships. For example, if you're searching for “95,” Global Search may show:
A payment of $95
A $130 bill with a $95 line item
A deposit related to that number
This helps you find contextual matches, not just literal ones.
5. In-Search Actions
You can perform actions directly from search results. For example, once you find a lease, you can:
View the balance
Add a charge
Record a receipt
Navigate to the lease page
This makes Global Search both a navigational tool and a productivity shortcut.
6. Fuzzy Matching
Don’t remember the exact spelling? No problem. Global Search uses fuzzy matching to catch and correct typos.
Example: If you type “Cristin Tors,” Rentvine will still suggest the correct match for “Cristian Torres” and surface all relevant records tied to that user.

Hello Rentvine family, my name is Christian and this is episode 1 of the Rentvine Mini Masterclass.
Today we're going to be highlighting the Global Search and some of its features and capabilities.
Right here at the top of the page, you can click into the Global Search bar or use the shortcut Command + K.
You can type what you're searching for or click the microphone icon to use voice search.
Also, we have our recently viewed items right below. So if you were working on something and need to return to it later, you can find it here.
In this example, I’m searching for “95.” The system will show all related records—deposits, payments, etc.
These are organized into what we call “filters” or shells to help you get granular.
You can also toggle inactive records, and Rentvine will even show results with what we call x-ray vision—where related line items appear even if they aren't exact matches.
You can also filter by record type, like leases. And from there, you can do things like add a charge, record a receipt, or view balances right from the search results.
Finally, we have fuzzy matching. So even if you spell a name wrong—like “Cristin Tors”—Rentvine will suggest the right match.
That’s the Global Search. If you have any questions, please reach out to support@rentvine.com. Thank you for your time.
